The fifteenth edition of Radikal ocean52 was a resounding success. Over 2,000 swimmers, elite athletes, nature lovers, and swimmers of all ages gathered on the Costa Brava, between Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc, to participate in this major open water swimming event that grows in excitement and magnitude year after year.

This year, the event exceeded expectations and surpassed the participant numbers from the previous edition. In addition to the 7.0 km, 3.5 km, and 2 km races, there were also children's activities, relay competitions, Kids events, concerts, and a night party, among many other initiatives, making this event a true celebration of swimming and sustainability.

Unforgettable Moments and Winners

The winners of the flagship 7.0 km race were Guillem Pujol (Centre de Natació Mataró) with a time of 1:23:38 in the men’s category, and Clàudia Giralt (Club Natació L’Hospitalet and Coach of our Radikal Tech sessions) with a time of 1:28:40 in the women’s category. Furthermore, both Guillem and Clàudia successfully defended their victories in the 2.0 km race, with times of 0:22:18 and 0:23:41, respectively. Incredible! Also, in the 3.5 km race, Diego Mira (0:43:19) and Aïda López (0:45:50) were crowned champions in their respective categories.

This major event also featured high-level athletes such as Òscar Salguero, Jimena Pérez, and Sergio de Celis, who shared their passion for swimming with participants. It was a spectacular event, with live coverage and major sports personalities like Jèssica Vall and Xavi Torres as commentators.

The Importance of Sustainability and Ocean Protection

One of the standout features of Radikal ocean52 is its commitment to sustainability. Thanks to the collaboration with ocean52, over 7,000 single-use plastic bottles were avoided, and environmental awareness activities, such as EcoChallenge, were held to collect waste and educate young participants. Additionally, talks and workshops on ocean protection were conducted, a key focus for Radikal Swim, which makes environmental care one of its top priorities.
